When scores are available
ETS currently says official TOEFL iBT scores are available in your ETS account three days after your test date. The exact expected date is displayed at the end of the test, and ETS sends an email when the scores are ready. Reading and Listening results shown immediately at the end are unofficial until ETS completes its quality checks.
Use the expected date shown by ETS for your test. Score reporting and delivery to a recipient may take additional time after results are posted.
Score validity and report formats
TOEFL iBT scores are valid for two years from the test date. ETS does not report or send them after that period. For tests from January 21, 2026 onward, the score report shows the four 1–6 section scores and the overall score; during the transition it also includes a comparable overall 0–120 score.

MyBest combines your highest section scores from all valid TOEFL iBT test dates into a best-of-sections view. It appears alongside scores from a single test date. Because the receiving organization sets its own rules, check whether your program accepts MyBest and whether it also requires minimum scores earned in one sitting.
Plan backwards from the application deadline
Work back from the institution’s deadline, allowing time for your score to become official, select or confirm score recipients, and resolve any issue with delivery. If a requirement or date is unclear, contact the score recipient and check the current ETS account instructions before relying on a last-minute result.
