How to approach this practice

Identify the purpose of the task and plan your main points before writing. For a visual task, compare the important features and use the supplied data accurately.

  1. Should the Library Open Later · Academic discussion

Write your own response, addressing every part of the task.

Contribute to the discussion below. State your view, respond to at least one idea already raised, and add a reason or example that develops the discussion.

Teacher: Our college can fund either later library opening on weekdays or extra weekend opening. Which would benefit students more, and why? Lena: I prefer later weekdays. Many students work during the day, so they need a quiet place after dinner. Omar: Weekend opening matters more. Students with long journeys can spend several useful hours there instead of travelling for a short evening visit.

    Task requirements

    • Make your own position clear.
    • Engage with an idea from the discussion.
    • Add a relevant explanation or example.

Write at least 100 words. Suggested practice time: 10 minutes.

What to review next

Check every task requirement, paragraph organisation, word choice and sentence accuracy. Revise your response after reviewing any feedback you choose to request.

A focused practice result shows how you did on these tasks. Use several activities across skills to decide what to study next; one practice score does not certify an overall CEFR level.
