How to approach this practice
Read the passage for its main idea, then return to the relevant sentence or paragraph for each question. Base answers on the passage.
Mia's Neighbourhood Club Notice
Mia puts a notice on the neighbourhood club door. Opening times: It opens at 3 pm from Monday to Friday and at 10 am on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday. At the door: Please take off your shoes. Inside: You can read and drink tea. Please do not bring dogs.
Soup Day at the Neighbourhood Club
On Tuesday, Mia and Ben joined a cooking class at the Neighbourhood Club. Mia chopped carrots, while Ben stirred the soup. They made tomato soup and bread. Ben liked the warm bread best, but Mia did not like the onions. They smiled and ate together.
Maya, Ben, and Lina at the Neighbourhood Club

Question 1 · Multiple choice
Choose all the correct answers.
Choose TWO things people can do at the club.
Return to the passage, recording or visual- read
- bring dogs
- drink tea
- stay all night
Check answers and explanations
- Answer
- read; drink tea
The notice says, 'You can read and drink tea.' So both 'read' and 'drink tea' are correct. 'Bring dogs' is wrong because the notice says not to bring dogs, and 'stay all night' is not mentioned.
You can read and drink tea
Please do not bring dogs
-
Question 2 · True / False / Not Given
Decide whether the statement agrees with the information. Choose Not Given when the text or recording does not provide the information.

Return to the passage, recording or visual- True
- False
- Not Given
Check answers and explanations
- Answer
- True
This is True. The notice says the club opens 'at 10 am on Saturday.' False is wrong because the time matches the notice, and Not Given is wrong because the information is stated directly.
It opens at 3 pm from Monday to Friday and at 10 am on Saturday
-
Question 3 · True / False / Not Given
Decide whether the statement agrees with the information. Choose Not Given when the text or recording does not provide the information.
The club sells sandwiches.
Return to the passage, recording or visual- True
- False
- Not Given
Check answers and explanations
- Answer
- Not Given
This is Not Given. The notice tells readers about opening times, shoes, reading, and tea, but it does not say anything about sandwiches. False would need a clear rule that sandwiches are not sold.
You can read and drink tea
Please do not bring dogs
-
Question 4 · True / False / Not Given
Decide whether the statement agrees with the information. Choose Not Given when the text or recording does not provide the information.
The notice says visitors should keep their shoes on when they arrive.
Return to the passage, recording or visual- True
- False
- Not Given
Check answers and explanations
- Answer
- False
This is False. The notice gives the opposite rule: 'Please take off your shoes.' Not Given is wrong because shoes are mentioned directly, and the sentence contradicts the rule.

What to review next
Find the words that support each answer. For a mistake, compare the question with the evidence and identify the detail or inference you missed.
A focused practice result shows how you did on these tasks. Use several activities across skills to decide what to study next; one practice score does not certify an overall CEFR level.
Before you practise: a worked example
Look for evidence in the text. Separate what the writer says from what you already know about the topic.
The library normally closes at six, but on Fridays it stays open until eight. When does it close on Friday?
The answer is eight. But introduces an exception to the normal closing time, so the first time mentioned is not the answer.
This teaching example is separate from the scored questions. After your test, compare any mistakes with the explanation and revisit the topic before trying again.
